President's Message
October 2009

With October, schedules are focused on the activities of the fourth quarter of the business year and the myriad of tasks preparing for the Holidays and year end celebrations. For eChapter, October signals the beginning of preparations for Congress. Planning for the Annual General Meeting (AGM) during Congress week and the Delegate selection process are getting underway.

It is always a busy week, and even as early as October with the receipt of the Congress brochure I begin to fill in my schedule for the week to be sure that I don’t miss meetings, educational sessions, special events, and of course, Delegate activities. For Congress 2010, this is especially important. Not only are we in a new city, there are also several changes to the Congress Week.

Of particular importance, the meeting times available for Chapters, State Councils and Specialty Assemblies are limited to Monday (0700-1630) and only 0700-0830 on Tuesday morning. eChapter has requested the Tuesday morning timeframe, and a room in the Convention Center to better accommodate our members who are speakers, committee and task force members, poster presenters, and are active in State Councils and Specialty Assemblies, as well as being able to get a good seat at the education sessions to follow the AGM.

This year eChapter will seat 87 Delegates at the House of Delegates! We are one of the largest delegations! Although it seems quite into the future, February 5 is the deadline for the pre-registration of Delegates. eChapter also takes advantage of the early registration deadline (January 25, 2010) and group registration. So, before we know it, those dates will be upon us.

The schedule of Delegate activities will reflect some changes for 2010. Only one Forum is scheduled.

But it won’t be all work and no play! Denver is a city that loves to enjoy the “high country” (aka the mountains)! Two separate day trips to ski are scheduled for the Friday preceding Congress and following Congress (Friday March 12 and Friday March 19). I hope to see many of my fellow eChapter members on the slopes! We will have more information as it becomes available.

Within the next couple of weeks, we will be starting our delegate selection and confirmation process. I look forward to seeing many familiar faces as well as many new delegates and members at the AGM and Delegate activities (and the ski slopes)!

Best regards,

Cynthia
