Dru Beedle - 2010 Delegate Report

Dru Beedle
AORN Congress in Denver was a wonderful experience for me considering I spent 20 years of my professional career in Denver. Such a joy to see the snow capped mountains, have snow flurries one day and the most beautiful blue skies the next day. Reconnecting with “old” friends and connecting to new friends has always been a personal highlight of Congress.

Thank you to my friends in E-Chapter for allowing me to represent you in the 2010 AORN House Of Delegates. This year we approved a motion to allow all members the privilege to vote for our future AORN leaders. The House of Delegates also approved a $25 annual dues increase to help offset declining revenues and reserves of AORN. The current House of Delegate structure and chapter designees of delegate will remain the same but now….any AORN member with voting rights and in good standing will also be able to be seated as a delegate in addition to chapter delegates.

Educational sessions this year were exceptional. Quality and quantity of poster sessions far exceed my expectations. One could have spent…as I did... hours reviewing the excellent research, practice change projects, quality improvement initiative and evidenced based programs.

Thanks again for the opportunity to represent our chapter as a delegate to the 2010 AORN Congress. It was a personal and professional pleasure to meet many of our members and discuss our many similar practice issues.
