First of all, Thank you so much to eChapter for allowing me to serve as a delegate to the 56th AORN Congress. Chicago brought back all those happy and wonderful memories...and also, the not so happy memories. My husband and I first set foot on this beautiful “windy” city way back in 2000 from the Philippines. I had my son born in Chicago, too. The only sad part is the snow…blizzards and extreme winters that I didn’t like.
The 56th AORN Congress will always be memorable to me because of the fact that I was a first time attendee and my first time to be a delegate. I was so impressed with everything...I was in complete admiration for this organization. The Congress was well planned and it was very organized! The Chicago winter weather was not that bad at all during congress. Snow came later after congress was over.
I have been a perioperative nurse for 19 years. I asked myself where have I been all these years that it took me this long to attend the AORN Congress. But now I’m glad I made my first move and attended one. Up to now, it is still hard to believe that the AORN Congress has come and gone. It is still fresh in my memory and will live and remain in my memory forever.
The Congress gave me so many opportunities to learn and grow both personally and professionally. It gave me first hand information and be a part of the discussion and interaction on professional issues affecting patient care and the practice of perioperative nursing. The best part of this congress was the opportunity to meet with all the wonderful eChapter members, especially Ms. Terri Goodman whom I only communicated with through the internet.
To sum it all, the 56th Congress was filled with excitement and with incredible informative educational sessions. Filled with the wonderful goodies from the exhibitors which I shared with the OR staff in my facility. I really had a good time, more so because I brought my family with me and had the chance to visit friends.
It was an honor to serve as a delegate for eChapter. This is a great AORN Chapter. I am blessed and I am so proud to be a part of eChapter and AORN itself. Furthermore, I am recruiting my friends to join eChapter.
