I was very glad to have gotten to go to Congress, although my company's surprise withdrawal of financial support was a real disappointment. To begin with, Chicago was so much more than what I expected. Being originally from a small town, I tend to have a negative view of large cities. But Chicago was beautiful and friendly.
Serving as a delegate is an honor and certainly a responsibility. A delegate does miss some opportunities at education, but that is compensated by the educational offerings from the posters and the exhibitors. As the meetings all follow parliamentary rules, I am still overwhelmed by the dos and don'ts. I was very happy to have a summary explanation of how the rules were going to be followed and some of the terminology explained before we started the First House of Delegate.
I am always in awe of the experience and dedication of all the candidates and I listen to our e-chapter members as to what their opinions are, especially of people they know. However, I feel secure in knowing that the slate of candidates are all well qualified.
Yet again this year was much discussion regarding expanding the role and number of members of the nominating committee. It seems the membership for the most part do not want appointed members on the board in any capacity.
The update in by-laws and approval of the DNR , Safe Workplace, and Noise Reduction guidelines passed without too much fuss.
eChapter sold beautiful original design scarves and it was inspiring to see so many of them at Congress. Again, thank you for allowing me to represent our chapter. I was very proud to be a part of this diverse group.
