Blankets for Our Troops

Marie Johnson, Chairman of eChapter's Ways and Means Committee, will be spearheading eChapter's "Blankets for Our Troops" project.

Any eChapter member may participate by making a blanket and following the instructions for mailing below.

Following are the blanket specifications and instructions for mailing:
  1. Knit / crochet / loom blankets should be 45" X 60" and will go to wounded soldiers in hospitals as well.
  2. Fabrics: cottons, flannels, fleece: If using fleece, the no-sew ones are great and fun to do. If using a one-sided fleece (with obvious front/back) please back it with another fabric - flannels work really well. If using the double sided fleece, please seam bind or serge the edges to prevent fraying. Or you can fringe them.
  3. Colors: most recipients are men!! Bright colors are good and patriotic colors work well! Patterns are ok too but please remember that we do not know if a female or male will be the recipient of this blanket. Even though most are men we have wounded women as well, so keep all blankets “unisex”.
  4. Take a picture of your blanket if you can.... email to Webmaster
  5. Please roll them up tight, tie with a ribbon and the eChapter tag (See top right corner of page)
  6. Mail to address below
    Lawrence Marquez

A letter from Chaplain Felix Sermon, Jr

Dear eChapter,

I appreciate your desire to support our Wounded Warriors. We try our best to wrap our troops with love and care -- we express that with blankets or quilts like your chapter is planning to donate to us.

I am Chaplain Felix Sermon, Medical Task Force 86th Combat Support Hospital Chaplain here in the IZ. I am willing to facilitate your Chapter's project, accepting the blankets that you send. I will make sure that each Wounded Warrior that we send to Landstuhl, GE will feel the love that comes from our home front supporters like you.

A letter from Chaplain John Gibbon, CH (LT) USAR

MAJ Moore,

I am the chaplain with the 345th CSH currently located at Al Asad Air Base and COB Speicher (a split operation). Thanks for remembering us.
